58.6 The Singer 2932 sewing machine is fairly basic and it is also, unfortunately, the lowest consumer-rated Singer sewing machine we have looked at. It receives a wide range of owner ratings and while some really do like the machine, many others do not. On the positive side it is quite inexpensive and can often be found for under $150 and sometimes even as low as $120. However it has chronic issues with thread and materials jamming as well as the reverse stitch lever breaking.
Consumer Ratings
As can be seen in the table below, consumer ratings for the 2932 range from very poor to very good. However, upon reviewing all owner comments it seems that the negative ratings outweigh the positive ones. From a purely numerical point of view the figures below yield an overall average score of 58.6 out of a possible 100. When compared to other Singer sewing machine ratings, this is rather low. And when compared to ratings for the likes of Janome for example, 58.6 is extremely low.

Consumer Insights
There are many reports regarding the thread jamming and breaking. Some owners report that you can minimize thread related issues by keeping the machine well lubricated. Others say that loading/adjusting the bobbin carefully (which is difficult) will help minimize thread breakage, and there are even reports that the bobbin included with the machine is the culprit and a new, proper sized bobbin will help. In addition, there are consumer comments indicating that improper thread size and poor thread quality may be causing the problems, so one may want to pay particular attention to these.
The manual is fairly detailed and several 2932 owners point to it as a good source of operations and maintenance information. Many owners also suggest that reading and following the instructions carefully can help alleviate a number of the issues that appear to crop up with the machine.
In addition, other parts of the sewing machine such as the reverse lever seem to strip and fall off. Some consumers question the quality of construction as many parts are made of plastic. Although oddly, there are a number of comments alluding to the sewing machines sturdy feel.

The sewing machine weighs 15 lbs and it, like many consumer electronics these days, is made in China. It carries a 25 year limited warranty but it is important to fully understand what this means. This 25 year limited warranty provides 25 years on the sewing machine head, but only 2-years on the motor and electronics, and only 90 days on belts, bulbs, rings, attachments and adjustments. In addition, the warranty is only good for the first owner. It cannot be transferred from owner to owner.
