83.1 Built to commemorate Singers 160th anniversary, the Singer 160 Anniversary Limited Edition sewing machine takes design cues from traditional, classic Singer machines. Owners report that it is a great looking sewing machine but is wider than expected. It is also good for free motion quilting and has 24 built-in stitches.

Several sources of owner ratings were found and they are recorded in the table below. They indicate an overall average score of 83.1 out of 100. This figure is about average for a Singer sewing machine but is not as high as the ratings we have seen for the Singer Fashion Mate 7256 or the Singer Stylist 7258.

Consumer Insights
Consumer comments are a great source of owner likes and dislikes and we have recorded the common ones below:
PROS
- Feed dogs drop for free motion quilting
- Attractive sewing machine
- Has many needle positions
- Makes nice stitches
- Long power cord
- Has large sewing area
CONS
- Machine is much wider than it appears in photos
- A bit heavy
- Small foot pedal
- Lots of plastic used in the machine construction
- No up/down button
The Singer 160 Anniversary has been designed after an older Singer sewing machine but it is actually a computerized sewing machine with one-touch stitch selection, automatic tension control and an LED display. Owners report that it is a great looking machine - see short video below - but some feel that too much plastic is used in the construction. It is also quite a bit wider than it appears in most photos. You can see the width of the machine in the side view image of the machine above.
There are reports that the machine is loud but there are also owner comments alluding to the fact that the machine is fairly quiet. It appears to be mostly a matter of what one is used to. Most owners do agree that the 160 Anniversary produces great stitches but several folks indicated they were disappointed that the machine has no up/down button. Also, the manufacturers suggested retail price is $599 but weve seen this machine available between about $350 and $400.
