- Quiet operation

CONS
- Some don’t find it the best looking machine
- The occasional issue with threading the needle
This is one of the few machines we have investigated that has almost no “cons”. Almost every owner of the Janome JW7630 has great things to say about it. Some describe it as a “workhorse”. More than one owner speaks of using it for several hours per day, 5-6 days per week over a period of years - and that during this time it has continued to perform admirably. This machine is not too pricey for a Janome but it appears to deliver.
Folks also report that the JW7630 sews through thick materials easily and that it sews smoothly and produces quality, uniform stitches. In addition, the machine is quiet and it doesn’t bounce around while sewing – it feels solid.
Owners find the JW7630 very easy to setup and to use. The DVD is also popular and folks find that the instructions on it are very helpful, especially for the first time user.

Other popular features include the following:
- The start/stop and needle up/down buttons are very useful
- Bobbin winding is simple and straightforward
- Being able to change the speed is a great feature
- Lights illuminate sewing area well (so many machines have poor lighting)
- Great machine for quilting
- While it doesn’t have a large number of stitches there are enough to do most work
Most people find that the automatic needle threader works well and that threading the machine is easy. However there is the odd person that has struggled with the needle threader – some just initially until they get the hang of it.
There are also some owners who feel that this Janome isn’t particularly aesthetically pleasing – although we don’t see it. This seems to look just fine to us (and to many others).
