98.0 The Janome DC series continues this year with the DC2015, and like the other Janome DC annual machines we have reviewed (DC2011, DC2012, DC2013, DC2014) it is getting top notch consumer ratings.
The Janome DC2015 is a computerized sewing machine with 60 stitches and owners praise its quiet operation, ease of use and quality of stitches. It is a bit on the heavy side however and, like most DC units, it is not cheap.
Consumer Ratings
Typically we would not add a sewing machine to our site with such a small number of consumer ratings (only 8 could be found in this case), however the Janome DC2015 is a very good machine and we believe it is worth telling our visitors about.
Given the limited number of ratings, one should consider the average score of 98 out of 100 as more of a guideline than anything else. However, if this DC is anything like its predecessors, a larger sample size is unlikely to change the average score by any large degree. You can see the ratings in the table below. 4.9 stars out of 5 is the equivalent of 98 out of 100.

Consumer Insights
A list of common owner likes and dislikes is provided below:
PROS
- Quiet
- Easy to use
- Well balanced machine
- Produces even stitches
- Capable on thick fabrics
CONS
- A bit on the heavy side
- Expensive
Most owners feel that the DC2015 is quiet and that it is very well-balanced even when sewing at high speeds. In addition, the stitches are well formed regardless of the thickness of fabric with which one is working. The unit is capable of sewing through many layers of fabric easily and it is also proficient when one is working with delicate fabrics. It is good for free motion quilting, easy to thread, and changing the presser feet is effortless.
The machine is a little on the heavy side however. But this can be both a pro and a con. The DC2015 has a sturdy feel and its heft ensures that it doesn’t move much while one is sewing. On the other hand it is a bit of a chore to lug around if you are looking for a portable unit.
The large LED panel and touch ring make choosing and editing stitches very simple. The touch ring allows one to choose stitches with one finger (see image below). For the most part, owners feel that the machine and all its features are user friendly. The manual is also fairly well-written and it has easy to follow illustrations – you can view it here.
There are a number of owner comments highlighting that the DC2015 is an excellent machine for the price and that is well worth the money. All comments indicate that those who have purchased the sewing machine are satisfied (again, bear in mind that only a small number of comments were found for this unit).

The DC2015 has a rather striking red and white color scheme which looks quite sharp in our opinion. It also has many of the features one might need for home sewing projects (quilting, scrapbooking, garments, home decor, etc).
The 60 stitches can be found on the front panel of the sewing machine. We have shown the stitches below.

The unit comes with a nice array of accessories, including 7 presser feet: zigzag, overedge, zipper, satin stitch, blind hem, open toe satin, and automatic buttonhole. There is also a needle set, multiple spool holders, an addition spool pin, bobbins, a screwdriver, a lint brush, and a seam ripper. In addition, you will find a manual, a power cord, and a sewing machine hard cover in the box.
The sewing machine has a large workspace of 6.2 inches by 4.7 inches and a metal frame. The frame is one reason why the DC2015 is a little on the hefty side at 18.2 lbs. It is also UL listed which is, to some extent, comforting. UL stands for Underwriters’ Laboratories and this group certifies that the product meets certain safety standards.
The warranty on the DC2015 is usually stated as “25 years” however the breakdown is as follows:
- 25 years on mechanical parts
- 2 years on electrical parts
- 1 year labor
If one is looking for a slightly less expensive Janome DC machine we've looked at the following and their pricing is approximately as shown. The DC2011 and DC2010 are getting harder to find.
Janome DC2014 – $549
Janome DC2013 – $499
Janome DC2012 – $449
