In our analysis of consumer comments it was difficult to find anything negative written about this machine. Almost all comments were positive – despite the hefty price tag (presently about $499). The following list of pros and cons highlights the more common statements from owners.

- Great for quilting
- Runs smoothly
- Easy to use
- Makes a good stitch
- Fairly quiet
- A few owners struggle with threading the machine
While we have pointed out that some folks struggle with threading their DC2014, there are also several comments indicating that threading the machine is fairly straightforward. So this is not entirely a “con” but rather something that one might experience. Similarly there are a few comments that the manual is not clear, however most comments indicate that the manual is well-written, has lots of detail and includes helpful steps for beginners.
Most owners have nothing but praise for the DC2014, citing the top loading bobbin, the ability to change stitches at the press of a button, and the fact that is comes with many sewing feet as well as a carrying case. As a matter of fact, many experienced seamstresses give this machine a thumbs up. It is also easy to use and it feels well-built.
The DC2014 is reportedly very capable when sewing through thick materials (or multiple layers of thinner materials). This is aided by the extra high presser foot lift. Owners also like that the DC2014 is packed full of useful features. The presser foot pressure is easily adjustable, the throat area (needle to housing) is 6.5 inches wide, and the unit even comes with a built-in thread cutter.
There are several comments from consumers who have had a Janome machine in the past and have now bought another. The brand appears to instill a level of loyalty. There are also encouraging comments about Janome customer service indicating that they are polite and helpful. We haven’t seen this with some other sewing machine brands.
There are quite a few questions regarding the differences between this machine and the DC2013. Essentially these sewing machines are the same. The DC2014 is simply the latest model.

It also comes with a very large number of accessories including the following: bobbins, a needle set, several presser feet (even feed foot, ¼ inch seam foot O, blind hem foot G, overedge foot C, satin stitch foot F, zipper foot E, automatic buttonhole foot R), a seam ripper, a lint brush, a screwdriver, a quilter bar, a foot controller, spool pins/stands/holders, an instruction manual, a warranty card and a power cord.
The Janome DC2014 carries the usual 25 year Janome warranty which breaks down to: 25-years on mechanical parts, 2-years on electrical parts, and 1-year for labor.
