93.0 The Janome Memory Craft 6300P is a computerized sewing machine that is getting top notch reviews and ratings from owners.  It is well suited for quilting, garments or home decoration and is fairly easy to use.  It’s a good fit for the professional crafter and it can handle both heavy duty and large projects.  This is a sturdy workhorse of a machine that is capable of sewing through multiple layers of heavy material while still producing a high quality stitch.  It does not have a free arm however and this can be a deal breaker for some seamstresses.

Consumer Ratings

SOME ISSUES
This is a very well received machine and most folks give it high praise – as is apparent with its score of 93/100.  However we have seen reports of some issues.

A few people received machines that were not working right out of the box.  Others have experienced units that stopped working in a matter of weeks.  It is important to point out that these reports are not common, but they are out there.  Also, one owner reported that the MC-6300P does not handle multiple seams well – but we only ran into this point once in all the comments we analyzed.

Other issues include the fact that this machine does not have a free arm which can actually be a deal breaker for some sewists.  And some owners have supplemented the sewing light as they felt it did not provide sufficient illumination of the sewing area.

Sewing Area

We should also point out that this is not the right machine if you are looking for something portable.  The MC-6300P is on the heavy side and isn’t really designed to be toted about.   In addition, it is probably not the best fit for a beginner as the many options and features are best handled by a more experienced seamstress.  If you are looking for a good beginner machine you may want to see our list of the Best Sewing Machines for Beginners.

PRAISE
Having dealt with some of the unit’s issues, there are many positives to this machine. We will only focus on some of the more common sentiments as there are too many comments of praise to reiterate here.

- Many folks have used the words “I love this machine” in their description of the MC-6300P.
- Folks find this a great machine for quilting.
- Owners repeatedly highlight that it is smooth, strong, quiet, and something of a workhorse.
- It feels durable and like it was built to last.
- It comes with many accessories including a large number of presser feet – so many in fact that one would rarely have to buy more.
- The extension table and 9 x 5 inch throat space enable the machine to accommodate large projects.

Extension Table

- The MC-6300P is also easy to use - the features are intuitive and clear

MC-6300P Control Panel

- The machine is exceptionally easy to thread.
- Probably the unit’s most popular feature is the thread cutter.  There are no end of comments about how convenient it is and how well it works.
- The instruction manual is detailed and well written.  If you have issues or questions many of them are addressed effectively in the manual.  You will also find a copy of the manual at the bottom of this review.
- The stitch quality is known to be excellent on this Janome and it also makes exceptional quality buttonholes.
- The machine is powerful and has no issues sewing through thick materials or several layers of material.  Some owners write that they have had no trouble sewing through multiple layers of denim.

This sewing machine is also UL listed which is, to some extent, comforting. UL stands for Underwriters’ Laboratories and this group certifies that the product meets certain safety standards.

Warranty
The warranty on the DC2015 is usually stated as “25 years” however this can sometimes be a bit misleading (the same approach most manufacturers seem to take).  The actual breakdown is as follows:
- 25 years on mechanical parts
- 2 years on electrical parts
- 1 year labor

As mentioned, this machine comes with many accessories including a host of presser feet: Zigzag A (comes attached to the machine), Automatic Buttonhole R, Overedge C, Overcasting M, Rolled Hem D, Cording H, Zipper E, Blind Hem G, Satin Stitch F, Basting/Darning P, ¼ Inch Seam O, Even Feed, Open Toe Satin Stitch F-2.  A foot storage box is also provided.
